The ERL Smart Cities introduces a new robotics challenge, focusing on showing how robots will integrate in the cities of the future as physical agents living in them. Leveraging the functionalities developed within the other challenges of the European Robotics League (ERL Consumer, ERL Professional and ERL Emergency), robots will cooperate with the smart city infrastructure and interact with its citizens -- assisting customers, providing professional services and supporting during emergency situations. The 1st Smart CIties RObotics Challenge (The SciRoc challenge) will be held in Milton Keynes (UK) from Sept 16th to Sept 22nd 2019. The challenge will be divided into several episodes, each consisting in a task to be performed through addressing specific research challenges. Teams are expected to participate in one or more episodes according to their research interests. We solicit teams interested in taking part to the 1st SciRoc challenge to provide their input on the design and format of the competition. A preliminary set of episodes has been identified by the SciRoc’s consortium, as listed below. In order to maximise attendance, we invite all interested teams to express their preferences on the episodes they would be willing to compete in, through submitting their EoI via the online form at http://sciroc.eu/expression-of-interest/ . Fourth Iberian Robotics Conference https://web.fe.up.pt/~robot2019/ November 20-22, 2019 Porto ? Portugal -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear colleague, We are pleased to inform you that ROBOT'2019 ? Fourth Iberian Robotics Conference will be held in Porto, Portugal, on November 20-22, 2019. The conference is organized by SPR ? Sociedade Portuguesa de Robótica and SEIDROB ? Sociedad Española para la Investigación y Desarrollo en Robótica and will be held within the premises of the School of Engineering of the Porto Polytechnic. ------------------------------ Conference Scope ------------------------------ ROBOT'2019 main goal is to continue the precedent efforts in showing the robotic research and development of new applications in the Iberian Peninsula. Although focused on the works developed at Iberia, the conference is open for good quality submissions from any country in the world. ROBOT?2019 will feature technical and social programs. The technical program will comprise plenary, regular and special sessions. All articles submitted for inclusion in the conference will be peer reviewed before acceptance. It is envisaged that all accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings, which will be published by Springer ? Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing Series, indexed by Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge and SCOPUS, as well as on CD/flash drive, subject to registration of at least one author for presenting the work. A selection of the conference presented best papers will also be recommended for publication as extended versions in Special Issues from international top Journals. ------------------------------- Conference Topics ------------------------------- The conference aims to gather researchers from the industry and academia to present and discuss the latest trends in research and technology in the fields of robotics and related areas. We invite original contributions in all areas relevant to robotics, covering mobile, walking, flying, marine, underwater, and industrial robots. The conference will cover analysis (modelling and simulation) techniques, design approaches, and practical applications and realisations of developed robotic systems. Support technologies for realisation of such systems, namely sensors and actuators, computer vision and image processing, tactile & haptics devices, control algorithms and architectures, localization, mapping and navigation, associated economic, ethical, legal and social considerations are integral part of the conference theme. Human-robot interaction, including medical robots, exoskeletons, prostheses and orthoses, as well as personal and service robots forms an increasingly active and important pertinent area. Contributions from researchers, industry and outputs from collaboration between industrial and academic R&D units are welcome in the following topics: ? agricultural robotic systems ? assistive robotic ? biomimetic robots ? cloud computing ? cognitive systems ? cooperative systems ? control architectures ? decision support systems ? distributed & networked systems ? distributed robotic systems ? educational robotics ? ethical & legal robotic issues ? human-robot interaction ? humanoid robotics ? hybrid intelligent systems ? computer vision and image processing ? localization, mapping and navigation ? locomotion and actuation systems ? marine robotics ? medical robotics ? mobile robots ? multi-robot systems ? new mechanism design ? parallel robots ? personal and service robotics ? planning and control ? remote handling & telerobotics ? robotic competitions ? robot learning ? sensors & actuators ? robotic simulation ? social robots ? soft computing ? swarm robotics ? tactile & haptics devices ? unmanned aerial systems ? underwater robotics ------------------------------ Paper Submission ------------------------------ The technical program of the conference will feature Regular Papers and Special Session Papers. Authors are invited to submit their full draft papers in PDF format from the paper submission page of the conference web-site by the indicated deadline for consideration for inclusion in the relevant category (special/regular paper). Articles submitted for inclusion in the conference will be peer reviewed before acceptance. Final accepted papers will be limited to 12 pages in length and must follow the Springer AISC template, given in the Call & Instructions web page. Accepted papers will be scheduled for presentation, which requires that at least one of the authors should register at the Conference and present the paper.
