Simulation in Robotics Special Session

ROBOT'2019 - Fourth Iberian Robotics Conference - main goal is to show the
robotic research and development of new applications in the Iberian Peninsula.
Although focused on the works developed at Iberia the conference is open for
good quality submissions from any country in the world.
The conference is organized in several Special Sessions one of which
is Simulation in Robotics.

The conference proceedings will be published in a Springer book of the
Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing Series, indexed by
Thomson ISI Web of Knowledge and SCOPUS (English papers) and in an
electronic volume with ISBN (Spanish and Portuguese papers).
The best papers in the Simulation in Robotics Special Session may
be invited for publication at the Intelligent Robotics Special Issue
of the Journal of Applied Sciences

## Objectives and Topics

While robotics is inherently a very practical research area, the use of
simulators in robotics research is very common, as they provide a cost and
time effective and safe methodology to develop the robot software.
The use of simulation also enables a level of introspection and control
over the evolution of time, that is seldom available when using real robots,
and allows an easy way to perform repetitive tests.

There are several quite realistic robotic simulators available for the use
in robotics research. However, the study on general methodologies to swap
from robotic simulation to its application in real robots is still a research
problem. This Special Session is focused on the use of Simulation in Robotics.
It aims at gathering researchers that use or develop robotic simulators to
present their novel research on these subjects.

The Special Session will be structured around the following topics:

- Development tools for Robotics
- Machine learning in robotics using simulators
- Modeling and simulation of complex robots
- Robotic simulator technologies
- Robotic simulators in education and training
- Simulated humanoid robots
- Simulated multi-agent robotic systems
- Simulated robotic competitions
- Simulation of robotic sensors and actuators

This topics' list is not exhaustive. Papers may address one or more of the
topics, and authors should not feel limited by them. Unlisted but related
topics are also acceptable, provided they fit in the Special Session main
subject.

## Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit original research contributions in English,
Spanish or Portuguese. Authors should submit their papers electronically
in PDF format via EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=robot2019

Papers must follow the Springer AISC template. Twelve pages in the Springer
AISC format are allowed for each paper, including all figures, tables and
references. Please check the Author Guidelines for the Preparation of
Contributions to Springer Computer Science Proceedings for more complete
information (http://www.springer.com/series/11156).

Authors must remove their names from the submitted papers, and should take
reasonable care not to indirectly disclose their identity. Three program
committee members will be assigned to review each paper. Acceptance will
be based on the paper's significance, technical quality, clarity, relevance
and originality.

Accepted papers will be scheduled for presentation, which requires that at
least one of the authors should register at the Conference and present the
paper.
